LET'S GET SOCIAL!
It’s no secret social media plays a huge role in our daily lives. In 2023, the average person spent two and a half hours on social media each day. In the US, adults spent the most time on TikTok with an average of 54 minutes per day. YouTube was another popular place to hang out, while Facebook and Instagram held on with an average of 32 minutes per day. No matter where you like to get social, that’s a pretty big chunk of time, especially considering most social media users embrace up to seven different platforms!
As a Paparazzi Consultant who leverages social media to build your business, you undoubtedly spend a few hours a day or more on social media platforms. But going Live, creating stories and reels, scheduling daily posts, and making time to plan your social media schedule can feel overwhelming.
What if we told you we have a simple strategy that helps you plan a month’s worth of content in as little as 30-60 minutes? It’s true! By following a few simple steps, you can silence the self-doubt and feel confident and empowered when it comes to creating an engaging social media calendar.
Our strategy consists of five steps you can use to plan, create, and implement your content. Ready to get started?
Step One: Be Consistent
Consistency is key when it comes to building a following. Plus, it helps you win at the algorithm game. But first, you need to decide now how many times you’ll post on social media each week. It could be multiple times a day or just a few times a week. It’s up to you.
The important thing is to make sure you’ll be able to stick to the schedule you choose. If you’re unsure how often you can commit to posting, it’s okay to pick a conservative number at first. You can always add more posting times as you get comfortable with this new system.
Step Two: Pick Your Categories
Breaking down your business into categories is an easy way to talk about your business without feeling like you have to sell every chance you get. Your Live streams are important but don’t underestimate the power of talking about your why or showing a few behind-the-scenes moments with a photo or graphic. Here are seven categories you can use to talk about your business:
- Your Why
- About Me
- Behind the Scenes
- Blessings & Benefits
- Encouragement
- Showcase Your Accessories
- Personal Insights
Step Three: Decide Your Topics
Since you’re in the jewelry business, it’s fair to assume you have an interest in fashion and accessories. But what else are you interested in? Think about the topics you could talk about all day long with someone. Maybe it’s fashion trends and hairstyles. Maybe it’s music or houseplants. Or it could be books and yoga. Pick your passion!
Make a list of the top seven topics you like to talk about. Be sure to include some that relate to the fashion and accessory industry, but feel free to add other subjects that are a substantial part of your life, like your family, pets, or celebrations.
Step Four: Find Your Type
Now that you know your categories and topics, it’s time to pick the type of content you’ll create each week. Of course, you’ll have your Live streams, but you’ll also want to prepare posts, stories, and reels or videos. As you plan your content, be sure to choose a variety of content types.
Step Five: Plan & Implement
The last step is to plan and implement. First, grab your calendar and plan how often you’ll publish a post. Did you choose one post a day or multiple posts and stories per day? Then pick a category from Step Two, pair it with a topic from Step Three, and select a content type. Do this for each post.
For instance, say you want to do an “About Me” post — that’s your category. Next, you’ll pick a topic. How about sharing your passion for fashion? After that, you’ll pick a content type. Let’s keep it basic with a single photo and caption. For this About Me post, you could snap a picture of your favorite outfit and accessories laid out on your bed. Once you have your photo, you’ll write a quick caption: It doesn’t get better than this! Comfy. Cozy. Sparkly!
Finally, save the photo to an album on your computer or device and save the caption to your notes. Be sure to include the date for the post. And that’s it! Now, go back to step one and start again.
Putting It All Together
Once your social media calendar is filled with engaging post ideas, it’s time to set aside an afternoon or two to create the content you’ll be sharing. Be sure to gather everything you need to knock out all of those photos, videos, and reels in one sitting.
With every piece planned, all that’s left to do is to schedule or publish your posts and then check in each day to reply to comments and engage with your audience.
It’s been said if you fail to plan, you plan to fail. And failing to plan your social media posts is a plan to fail at connecting with countless new customers or team members. Schedule a time right now to plan your social media calendar and implement this six-step system. We’ll see you on the socials!
